Ben Tisoy cause of death is believed to be shortness of breath but there is evidence showing otherwise. In an anti -‘tambay’ drive of the PNP (Philippine National Police), the 25-year-old man was arrested and stayed for 4 days under Quezon City police.

While Ben Tisoy death was attributed to shortness of breath, the autopsy report and photos show the contrary. According to these pieces of evidence, the corpse of the man, affectionately called Tisoy by his loved ones, had bruises all over. 

His death certificate also points to the same cause, concluding that Ben Tisoy cause of death was blunt force trauma to the young man’s upper extremities, neck, chest, and head. 

The death certificate was used by the family of the deceased when they tried to bring him justice. Unfortunately, the claims were dismissed by the QCPD (short for Quezon City Police District). 

According to the QCPD, Ben Tisoy cause of death wasn’t some kind of violent treatment he received when in custody contrary to what his family believed when they said he had bruises on the cadaver and a broken rib. They also said this supposed evidence was conjectures.  

However, the report was done by Superintendent Joseph Palmero who wasn’t a doctor but a medico-legal chief of the PNP Crime Lab.

Palmero said he was the one who examined the body of the deceased. When the corpse was brought to a funeral parlor, there was no one with the expertise to conclude Ben Tisoy cause of death or make a death certificate. This was why the poor man’s body was later under the responsibility of the PNP Crime Lab. 

So the PNP Crime Lab’s conclusion shows the opposite of the alibi the QCPD offered which said the reason for the death of the young man was asphyxiation. They put forward a certification done by Doctor Jethiel Fabon which revealed that no signs of external injuries were found. 

Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel of the QCPD said when the cause of death was revealed, everyone involved would be investigated until they found out the truth. He also assured that those responsible would be punished accordingly.
